Presentation Day 2015

THE JAMBEROO GOLF CLUB presentation day was held at the club last Sunday to an enthusiastic gathering of members and guests.

The convivial nature of the evening and fellowship of members was wonderful to behold and was enhanced by the ability of members to share a drink with their fellows. Thanks go to bar-keep for the night, Lance Fredericks for providing this new facility at the club.

A sumptuous Christmas dinner was served to the great appreciation of those present and many thanks go to the organisers of the event and to the helpers on the night, Sandra Gentle, Kay Ison, Cheryl Legge and Lieve Stasson.

The evening started out with a ’chipping’ contest where participants were asked to play a difficult chip shot over a bush, under limbs of a tree and over a bunker to a flag situated on a down slope on the 4th green using an unfamiliar club. The nearest the pin was Jim Henry whose shot to 1 metre just pipped that of Margaret Potter, with Lieve Stasson’s and Rose Sheath’s shots also of merit. Tom Persson was awarded 5th place for his effort. Vice-captain Stuart Potter was awarded the most elegant (and least successful) swing award. Many thanks go to Ray Orr for his assistance in running the event and for the creation of his inspiring sign.

The club Christmas raffle winner was John Kyle, while Lyn Deegan, Geoff Boxsell and Gail Goodwin were winners of the cash in the 100 club.

The main purpose of the night was of course to announce and award prizes and trophies to the various winners of club events and championships held in 2015. Judi O’Brien acting as MC on the night was pleased to announce the following winners:

Finally, I must say that I had no idea that Santa was such a funny, skinny fellow who speaks with a Welsh accent!

President Lance in his concluding speech suggested that members should consider playing another comp each week to help us trade out of the present financial situation. He congratulated all winners and thanked the organisers and helpers for the night to which I add my own thanks.

Many congratulations to the award winners and champions.

  1. Well done to all the winners of their respective awards. Looks like all had a good time in the outdoor area..Should be a welcome addition to the club and hopefully all us members take advantage of what the committee and volunteers have achieved. Well done all.
