Vale Tom Walsh
Jamberoo Golf Club sends out our heartfelt condolences on the passing of Tom Walsh, husband of life member Shirley.
For those members wishing to show their respects the funeral is to be held at St Matthew’s Catholic Church, Chapel Lane, Jamberoo, on Monday 8th October at 11 am.
May he rest in peace among the angels.
Members Set to Shine
The weather may have been overcast but Jamberoo members shone today as they played the first round of the club championships. The leaders of each grade are: Anthony Smith in A Grade with 73, Wayne Griffiths and Greg Rodgers in B Grade with 83’s, Robert Anderson in C Grade with 88 and Robert Weir in D Grade with 97.
The first round is considered to be the ‘settling’ round with players just jockeying for position before the true tests come over the next few weeks. It will be interesting to see who will put up the challenge to the leaders.
If you didn’t play well then don’t feel disappointed, you are in the majority! There is always a new comp each week so perhaps next time may see you play to your potential.
Good luck to you all, play well.
Cancer Link Charity Golf Day
On Tuesday the 16th of October the Ladies Committee is playing a charity day to raise funds for the very worthy Cancer Link Foundation.
This event is open to both males and females and takes the format of a two person Ambrose.
We only have 1 male entrant at the moment and we need some more to enter. I can attest that it is a very fun day with a shot gun start and with a light meal served and good company assured. You are also supporting a worthy cause as well.
The entry form can be found in the golf shop.
The Latest Results
The conversation on Tuesday was “why didn’t I play in the stroke round?” These words were heard from both Marg and Gail after they both shot great stableford scores. Maybe next month ladies? Judi O’Brien scooped the pool in division 1, Margaret Cook in division two and Marie Rodgers in division 3.
Larry Kent just happened on down to the club on Monday on the off-chance of getting a game. He was just in time as the last group were preparing to hit-off so Larry joined in. Lucky too as Larry played a great round scoring 20 points on the inward nine to defeat the unlucky John Pringle on a countback. Both had shot 38 points.
On Wednesday C grade was the hard one to win with several players finding their form and scoring in the 40’s. Paul Tucker and Laurie Fogarty were the best both scoring 43 points. Paul won on a countback.
